Spring

Knowing your seasonal fabrics and your colors is essential. Fabrics such as silk-blended linens and lightweight four-season wools work perfectly. Lighter and brighter colors are perfect for the spring season. Those colors include lighter and richer blue tones, earthy browns, light grey, olives, beige, and bright green tones as well. It’s important to keep in mind to always coordinate with the bride. Black-tie dress code is one of the best options in the spring season. Just make sure the materials are breathable. Black or navy-blue tuxedos are always a great go-to when in doubt. Make sure you accessorize with a pocket square, monogrammed cufflinks, and a classic boutonniere.

Summer

Summer season is quite literally the hottest time of the year. Tuxedos in 90+ degree weather is insane and quite unserious. If you’re going to wear formal attire, make sure the colors are lighter and the fabrics are breathable. Fabrics such as linen. Linen blend suits and seersuckers perfect for summer weddings. Especially when you’re getting married on the beach. Weddings in the summer, by design, are more casual than any of the other seasons. Because the dress code is much more casual, grooms tend to wear their suits tieless and some even go sockless. Especially if the wedding is taking place earlier in the day. I recommend going with a cocktail attire dress code for the wedding party and wedding guests. Everybody needs to be comfortable and still look good.

Fall

Wedding attire in the brings out richer fabrics and tones that are earthier. Fall weddings are a great time to bring out double-breasted cotton suits, flannel suits, or even a fine-wale corduroy suit. Brown in the fall is one of my favorite colors to use. Other great colors to use include burnt orange, deep plums, and rich maroons. During the warmer side of the fall, it is best to try mid-weight wool fabrics.

Winter

My favorite time of the year. Winter season. In the words of Andy Williams, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year.” Winter weddings are one of the best times for all of the formalities. Black-tie attire and white-tie attire are the go-to. Although some couples are using cocktail attire dress codes too. When it comes to fashion, the fabrics need to be thick! Brushed wool flannel suits, tweeds, and herringbones are all great choices for winter weddings. High quality tuxedos that provide thicker wools are perfect for black-tie and white-tie affair weddings. Three-piece suits, double breasted tuxedos, accessorized with monogrammed cufflinks, pocket squares, and an impeccable boutonnière. When it comes to colors, dark colors are the absolute best. Black, dark grey, navy, and burgundies. And if your wedding is during Christmas time (again...my favorite time of the year), you can even throw a dark green color as well. Having a Christmas tree, candy cane, or a Santa hat as a lapel pin is a perfect touch. You can also use a mistletoe or a boutonniere’ of holly as well.
