Iconic Wedding Movie Dresses

Wedding season is upon us! In our previous posts, we discussed some of the best wedding movies of all time and they touched on all things bridal, from the planning, to the drama, opulent designs, etc. Today, we are going to take things further and discuss some of the most iconic wedding dresses in cinema.

Sex and the City

Although the wedding scene itself was heartbreaking, Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) wedding gown was unforgettable. It was a floor-length Vivienne Westwood dress that was so beautiful that Vivienne Westwood herself gave it to her with a handwritten note that stated "This dress belongs to you".

Crazy Rich Asians

Araminta Lee's (Sonoya Mizuno) gown  was stunning. And that's an understatement. What's even better is that this was a combination of a wedding dress and a catsuit. It was designed by Mary Vogt. The dress featured a 10-foot train and thousands of gold Swarovski crystals. And it took over 30 people to bring this look together in three weeks.

Bride Wars

Emma and Liv (Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson) starred as best friends who book their weddings days at the same venue at the same time. The Plaza Hotel. One of New York's most prestigious hotels. They were just as beautiful on their big day as they were entertaining. Both of them wore Vera Wang.

Mamma Mia!

Sophie's dress  (Amanda Seyfried)  was designed by Ann Roth. This beautiful dress features dainty blue flowers that are paired with a matching floral veil.

Marry Me

Kat Valdez (Jennifer Lopez) Zuhair Murad dress was a show-stopper! This gown was 80 lbs and Costume designer Caroline Duncan drew inspiration from New York Bridal Fashion Week. After choosing from 15 different options, the Zuhair Murad team sent over 2 samples and Lopez tried one of them on and said "This is the one."

The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement

To walk all the way down aisle and not get married is INSANE. But Princess Amelia Migonette Thermopolis Renaldi (Anne Hathaway) looked gorgeous! This amazing off-shoulder, lace gown was designed by costumer designer Gary Jones.

Coming to America 2

Princess Mirembe (Nomzamo Mbatha) is peak royalty. This breath-taking wedding gown was so massive, she needed help walking down the aisle. The dress in its totality weighed 83 pounds and the train was 15 feet long made of the African woven fabric ankara.

Jumping the Broom

Sabrina Watson (Paula Patton) wanted a wedding that was elegant. And her dress reflected that. She wore a beautiful Angelique wedding dress as her and her husband (Laz Alonso ) exchanged vows.
